A Christian from Japan said (taken from another forum, the words altered to just give the gist of his statement):
...I should tell you many many Christians hold to pacifism faith. Jehovah Witnesses is one of the biggest one but there are other minority groups like the ammonites. From the beginning of the Church Christians held to pacifism too. RCC defiles Christianity in many ways. That's why I believe RCC is mother of harlots.
I would have to question your designating Jehovah Witnesses as a Christian Group, primarily because they deny some fundamental truths of Scripture. The deity of Christ, for example. Anyone that denies the Deity of Christ not only deny basic truths made clear in Scripture but attribute salvation to man, if Christ were but a man, or, simply a "god among gods."
When it comes to war, as Christians we leave the rendering of Justice to the governing bodies, we do not actively engage in it as the body of Christ. But, when it comes to Christians being in the military, or governmental offices...why do you think we pray for those in power over us (from a secular perspective, meaning Government)?
That they might be Christians. That they might be saved. That they might conduct affairs, whether foreign or domestic...according to the will of God.
We don't see Christian Soldiers, when they are in obedience, behaving in a manner that is not just. And I will tell you this, there are a lot of people in the countries we have intervened in that would very disagree with your view that America should not have gotten involved.
Blasting the Catholic Church and correlating that to the Body of Christ is unjust, and perpetuates the mythology that it was Christians that went on crusades. Nothing in Scripture teaches us that we are to engage in Military affairs as the Body. That does not mean that we ignore the fact that God on numerous occasions used His people (Israel) in military affairs, and commanded them to destroy His enemies. This gives us insight to God's heart on such issues, so to present God as a pacifist that will not, for the sake of Justice, judge the actions of those that do evil fails to recognize a basic Bible Principle we see illustrated in both New Testament as well as Old. The primary basis of the principle is the punishment of those that do evil. Those who think pacifism is something that will work in a world that is under the Curse do not understand the nature of sin, and the horror of sin unchecked.
Do we sit by when a President, Dictator, or people murder? This is particularly heinous when it is against...their own people.
This does not mean I am for war. History shows that a display of courage in the faces of our enemies is enough as a deterrent to give caution to those who have evil intent. Saddam Hussein, for example, was a murderous thug who killed his own people, who boasted of his power and fearlessness, and thumbed his nose at the world, daring them to intervene. We see what that got him. Today, we sit under threat of the rise of Islam, and countries that would destroy other countries if they could, do not destroy those countries for fear of US involvement, as well as world reaction. But when they have made enough converts, which is aided by the Liberal Agenda (unbeknownst to them), they may be emboldened that their time is ripe.
Long story short. as a Christian, I am not a warmonger, but, I recognize the God ordained order that, unless it is based on Justice, will allow evil to prosper and both Christians and the cause of Christ to suffer at the hands of evil men.
So in other words, I want just as many Christians in governing position and the military as we can get. That number grows less and less as we draw closer to Christ's return, but I think God for the men and women who do serve who fear God and base their lives on His will as presented in Scripture.
While it may sound harsh to question whether Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons should be considered Christian Groups, this is new. THey have been, from their beginnings...considered cults who teach different Christ's, and a different God from the One True Living God Who has revealed Himself in Scripture. Mormons teach God was a man...is that a Christian Doctrine? Jehovah Witness teach the Word of God was a god...not God. Is that a Christian Doctrine? Is that the Risen Christ Who is God manifest in the flesh?
There is, and always has been but One Savior, and that is God. Not a god who was once a man, but a God Who took on the form of man that He might die in their place. Not one god among many gods, vying for pole position.
Their understanding of Scripture, which is not understanding at all, explains why they also ignore the fact that God uses men in this world to judge evil men. This includes even His own People, Israel, Who He created to be the witness Nation to reveal God to all men. We, the Body of Christ, are the Witness Nation, and we must bring our Doctrine and Practice into agreement with the Word of God. We cannot turn a blind eye to the heresies taught by groups posing as Christians, nor do we acknowledge that when groups accepted as Christian violate God's will that they act on behalf of Christianity, or stand as representatives of Christ. Israel did not get a pass when she fell into sin and worshiped other gods, but they too fell under this Basic Bible Principle of God using other Nations to judge sin.
God bless.
